Brett Favre? No that’s David Beckham. Well, it’s not even a close comparison, but Beckham is pulling somewhat of a Brett Favre at the end of his football career. Beckham, 39, retired from the real football after a 20-year career in May of 2013. At the time, he was with Paris St-Germain of Ligue 1. Beckham is no Favre, but his retirement may be short-lived…

According to reports, Beckham may be planning on resuming his career in the MLS with the Miami franchise he is attempting to launch. Appearing on the BBC One documentary, Beckham said:

“There’s never been a player-owner but maybe? Now I go to watch a basketball game and, when you are watching athletes play at the top of their game, it gives me that itch again and I want to be back in the game and I start thinking to myself ‘Could I play again? Could I go back? Could I come out of retirement and start playing again?”

You want to put people in the seats for a new franchise – Beckham playing would do that. The growing popularity of the MLS would make a Miami franchise successful without Beckham, but his presence should make it a lock.
