As someone who grew up in Mexico, he surprisingly took an interest in baseball. This young man always dreamt of playing in the major league and put in all the effort that was needed to help him achieve his goals. Gio's dream came true when the mighty Yankees signed him as an international free agent. He made his debut in the minor leagues with the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2012. The youngster spent time with the Staten Island Yankees in 2013. The following year, he honed his skills with the Charleston RiverDogs. With each passing day, he was getting better. He played for the Tampa Yankees, Trenton Thunder, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in 2015. 2016 was a major year in El Yaqui's career because the Yankees added him to their roster after the end of that season. Gio made his major league baseball debut for the New York Yankees on May 12, 2017. This was a massive achievement for this Mexican from Obregón.
