Macquarie Fields 11-hour roof siege: Man charged after alleged domestic incident

A wanted man has been charged after he refused to come down from the roof during an 11-hour siege. About 8.30am on Friday, officers were called to a home on Catkin Way in Macquarie Fields following reports of a domestic incident.

A wanted man has been charged after he refused to come down from the roof during an 11-hour siege.

About 8.30am on Friday, officers were called to a home on Catkin Way in Macquarie Fields following reports of a domestic incident.

When police arrived, they were told a 31-year-old man had been involved in a verbal argument with his partner before climbing onto the roof of the property.

The man remained on the roof for 11 hours while local and specialist police – including negotiators – established a perimeter around the premises.

Negotiators worked to convince the man to come down from the roof until after dark.

He came down at about 7.50pm and was arrested by police before being taken to Campbelltown Hospital for observation.

Upon release, the was taken to the police station where he was charged with outstanding warrants.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
