CHARLOTTE — Dozens of kids in Mooresville are in the midst of an exciting weekend, finally performing “The Lion King Jr.” after months of rehearsal.

The Masterworks Junior Theater Company is making sure its productions are accessible to all. Channel 9′s Elsa Gillis visited the group during dress rehearsal week to meet a special pair the audience will see on stage: Kate Waid and her “Broadway buddy” Anna.

“I’ve done theater since I was 6 or 7 and I’ve always enjoyed it and it’s always brought me joy,” Waid said. “So whenever I got the opportunity to share it with Anna, I was just so happy that I could give the joy to someone else.”
